Objectives and activities
SKiLD aims to provide support to development workers via various media including: training courses and events, by facilitating network groups, producing toolkits and resources as well as producing SKiLDbites, a six weekly email bulletin.
SKiLD has a bespoke website, the SKiLD framework, which allows development workers to access information related to their role and measure their competency. The framework is based around the concept of a wheel with the centre of the wheel containing the four core skills and knowledge areas that all development workers who support groups need to have. The eight spokes are other topic areas that are optional depending on your job role.
This improved support should mean that the local voluntary and community sector can be more effective and, if appropriate, better equipped to deliver public services.
