Social Enterprise Diagnostic Tool

Between 2009 and 2010 Social Enterprise London (SEL), a partner in the Income Generation workstream led by Association of Chief Executives of Voluntary Organisations (ACEVO), developed a diagnostic tool for fur use by advisers of social enterprises and voluntary and community sector organizations. The tool covers 10 areas of an organization that are considered important to understand the overall viability of organizations that are currently trading or interested in starting trading. These areas are:

  • strategy;
  • governance;
  • customers and users;
  • social / environmental impact;
  • operations;
  • systems, data and processes;
  • finances;
  • income generation;
  • marketing and communications; and
  • HR and organisational development.
